    The Information/Baghdad.. The
Ministry of Planning confirmed, on Monday, that Iraq needs more than three million housing units and 8,000 schools annually, indicating that many of the plans in question were hit with obstacles on the ground.
Ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi said in a televised interview, which was followed by "The Information", that "Iraq needs three million housing units annually, while the capital, Baghdad, inhabits 8 million citizens, and at the level of schools, there is a gap of up to 8,000 schools."
Al-Hindawi added, "There is progress, but not at the required level in fighting poverty in Iraq, but many of the plans in question have been hit by obstacles on the ground."
He explained that "the poverty rate in Iraq decreased to 20 percent after it was higher than that, and that the various and unexpected circumstances did not make the poverty line decrease as it was planned." End / 25 d
