The Sadrist movement continues to reject all attempts at rapprochement with the State of Law coalition, and goes to achieve its efforts to form a national majority government with its partners from the Sunni and Kurdish political forces, with the possibility of Shiite forces joining in the coming days.
On the other hand, the State of Law coalition talked about a meeting he described as the latter between the coordination framework and the Sadrists on the next government, but he does not count on its results, and is awaiting the outcome of the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court on the most numerous bloc.
The Federal Supreme Court had considered in its second session the request for the coordination framework regarding determining the most numerous parliamentary bloc and decided to postpone it until tomorrow, Thursday. Political analyst Manaf al-Moussawi said, in an interview with Al-Mada, that "discussions are currently taking place to mature the Sadrist movement's project to disrupt the Iraqi political structure and re-dismantle it again."
Al-Moussawi added, "The program of the Sadrist movement, which has taken its way to implementation, focuses in its most important topics on the shift from consociationalism as it was the cause of the crisis of confidence between the citizen and the political forces, and it reached its most severe when the Iraqis went out in massive demonstrations that led to the early elections."
He pointed out, "What the Sadrists are proposing is very consistent with the vision of the October uprising, by going to the national majority in which not everyone can participate."
Al-Moussawi spoke about "the possibility of a part of the Shiite forces joining the Sadrist movement in the next government, which the leader of the movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, described as the one in which he is still highly regarded." He stressed, "Al-Sadr's positions are clear that he is continuing with the change project, and the government program that was announced after the announcement of the preliminary results of the elections included mechanisms for rebuilding the state by strengthening its prestige and limiting weapons to its hands." Al-Moussawi stated, “The talk about the presence of only one Shiite party in the opposition is incorrect, as there is the New Generation Movement and the extension and Sunni deputies objected to the election of Muhammad al-Halbousi, and everyone will be present in the opposition.” He stressed, “the need for the opposition to mature and to be more effective and powerful in following up on the government program.” He believed that “the Sadrists do not personalize their position, but they believe that by allying with Shiite forces they think well, they will succeed in building the project of change that they aspire to.”
Al-Moussawi stated, "The Sadrist movement's vision is different with the State of Law coalition, and therefore their alliance and their entry into one government may not help in implementing the Sadr project in the way he wants." And he added, "Two options were put forward by the Sadrists, the first is to form a majority government in cooperation with those whom they see as allies of the Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds, and if they face difficulty in that, they openly announce that by going to the opposition, which is the second option."
Al-Moussawi went on, "The majority project will be realized whether the Sadrists succeeded in forming a government or went to the opposition, but the data indicate that the chances of success are very great, through the outcomes of the first session that witnessed the vote on the presidency of the House of Representatives." For his part, the deputy of the State of Law coalition, Kazem Al-Haidari, said that "continued efforts not to involve parties in the coordination framework will complicate the formation of the government."
Al-Haidari added, "The process of forming a government may take place, but problems may arise after that, and there are many challenges that all political forces should participate in in order to find a way out."
He pointed out that "the presence of the coordination framework in the opposition is not in the government's interest, because of its parliamentary weight represented by the number of seats occupied by the framework forces, as well as the popular weight and the broad public." Al-Haidari noted that "a meeting will be held in the coming days that can be considered the last stop in order to find a way out of the dispute within the Shiite house, between the coordination framework and the Sadrists."
He stressed, "The success rates of this meeting are very few, because the Sadrist bloc continues its efforts to break up the coordination framework, which in turn insists on remaining as one bloc and refuses to be divided by entering the government."
Al-Haidari concluded, “The political path is being matched by another legal matter that is currently before the Federal Supreme Court, which is determining the most numerous parliamentary bloc that will be resolved in the coming days. We believe that the constitutional contexts support that we have the right to form a government.”
It is noteworthy that the Sadrist movement has succeeded so far in forming a majority coalition with the Advance and Azm blocs and the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
