The government of consensus and quotas cannot proceed (Facebook)
A series of meetings recently held by representatives of the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr and the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Massoud Barzani, sparked a lot of talk about electoral alliances about four months before the elections.

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party says that what happened between us and the Sadrists was a convergence of views and a prelude to an alliance after the elections
This comes in the context of the Sadrist movement's talk about its intention to obtain the position of prime minister in the upcoming elections, a matter that has been educating its followers on it for not a short period of time.

On the other hand, the Kurdistan Democratic Party was looking forward to the presidency again during the recent elections, after the experience of Fuad Hussein, but Barham Salih, who was supported by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (the rival Democratic) got the majority votes in the House of Representatives to push him as President of the Republic.
In the midst of this, the head of the political body of the Sadrist movement, who recently visited the Kurdistan region, confirms the movement’s insistence on the necessity of “holding the elections on their specified date and that the delay will lose their early character.
Understanding or alliance?
Despite statements emanating from members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to stand at the same distance from all political blocs and not to enter into alliances before the elections, observers point to a greater rapprochement with the Sadrist movement that has become clear in recent times.
With the assertion of the former deputy of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Majid Shankali, not to build alliances until after the results of the elections, he points to the advantages that brought his party closer to the Sadrist movement, which is that the movement enjoyed "a kind of moderation and that it wants to form a strong government this time," and adds that the Sadrist movement is similar to the party. Democratic in terms of "central discipline and control over members."
Shankali said in a television statement, followed by "Ultra Iraq", that "what happened between us and the Sadrists was a rapprochement in views and a prelude to an alliance after the elections." Shankali also confirms that his party has no fear of the Sadrist movement's weapons, but rather fears the "weapon of the Hashd factions in the disputed areas." It will play a major role in the elections in many of the areas it controls.”
On the reasons for this rapprochement, the leader of the Wisdom Movement, Riyadh Al-Awadi, says that "Massoud Barzani wants to return the Kurdish decision to his side as before when there were two leaders who controlled the scene," referring to Barzani and Talabani.
new kurdish speech
It is not new for the Kurdish parties to conclude understandings with the Shiite and Sunni Arab blocs that pave the way for alliances after the elections to agree on the formation of the government according to the consensual custom that the political system in Iraq was accustomed to after 2003.
But what is new is a Kurdish dialect that talks about leaving the method of consensus and quotas in forming the government and going towards forming a majority government, which is what almost happened when the blocs split longitudinally into the Building and Reform alliance, then the Sairoon bloc formed an alliance with Al-Fateh and together they formed the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi.
The former KDP MP, Majid Shankali, says that his party "wants a majority government in exchange for an opposition", and stresses the need to leave consociationalism.
In the details of forming the government and the possibility of that, Shankali talks about the Sairoon Alliance obtaining 75 parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections and the Kurdistan Democratic Party obtaining 30 seats, which will pave the way for it to approach another Shiite bloc such as the Wisdom Movement with 20 seats, for example, with Sunni forces. with 40 seats, to form a government with 170 deputies.
Shankali adds in a completely upside down position: "The government of consensus and quotas cannot be proceeded, and if a consensus government is formed, this means that the political process will collapse."
In the context of talking about the stream of wisdom, the leader in the movement, Riyadh Al-Awadi, who confirms his rapprochement with all political blocs, agrees that "the management of the political process must be in the manner of the national majority and through a cross-component alliance," a position identical to the scenario proposed by Shankali to form the government.

The former Kurdish deputy from the Change Bloc, Hoshyar Abdullah, and in his [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in early June, talks about an offer from the Kurdistan Democratic Party to the Sadrists during 14 visits, which includes “Al-Party’s dealings with Sadr as the only political reference for the Shiite decision, in exchange for the Sadrists to deal with Masoud Barzani as the sole political reference for the Kurdish decision.
After confirming that the offer is valid and the meetings are continuing, Abdullah, in his tweet on Twitter, asks about "the nature of the regime during the coming era"?
