Careem, the leading multi-services platform in the Middle East, announced the appointment of Hussein Al Bayati as the company's general manager in Iraq.
The company said in a statement, "Al-Bayati has more than 15 years of experience in Iraq, where he held several leadership positions, including the general manager of OpenSooq Company in Iraq, which is the largest online marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to leading and technical positions. Others are in a number of companies in the field of technology and communications, such as Awal Communications Company, Kalimat Communications Company, and Huawei Technology Company.
Al-Bayati is responsible for “the growth of smart transportation and delivery services at Careem, in addition to building strong partnerships with local institutions. He also manages the work team in Iraq, which is witnessing remarkable growth, and leads the company’s strategy that aims to digitalize the transportation sector in Iraq and provide a safe transportation service.” and reliable for citizens in line with Iraq’s Vision 2030.”

Al-Bayati is considered one of the main supporters of entrepreneurs in Iraq, as during the past few years he has helped many small and emerging companies in Baghdad and Erbil through mentorship and training programs in cooperation with business incubators such as Al Mahatta and international institutions such as the GIZ. Hussein obtained an Executive MBA from Quantic College of Business and Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Baghdad.
Careem gives “more than 30,000 captains working on its platform in Iraq the opportunity to earn additional income through flexible working hours, as well as a number of training programs to help them improve the quality of services they provide to our customers, in addition to other benefits and incentives for the best performers.”
