    Economy News-Baghdad
Today, Monday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced five measures to eliminate the phenomenon of child labor, while indicating the allocation of salaries to a number of families to prevent the employment of their children .
The Director General of Labor and Vocational Training in the Ministry, Raed Jabbar, said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News that "the problem of child labor is due to the economic situation, as most poor families push their children to work under difficult economic conditions," noting that "the Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with UNICEF and Labor, seeks To reduce the phenomenon of child labour .
He added, "There are inspection teams from the Ministry that campaign against employers to ensure the existence of child labor," noting that "according to the Labor Law, any employer who employs children under the legal age is referred to the Labor Court ."
He stated, "On the occasion of the International Day against Child Labor, the ministry launched a large campaign in Baghdad and the provinces to educate families and employers about the seriousness of this issue and distributed leaflets on it," noting that "the ministry has counted a large group of families and submitted them to the Minister of Labor, who agreed to grant them." Salaries were paid in return for the head of the family’s pledge not to employ his children, and children were returned to schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education .
He indicated that "reducing child labor requires large financial allocations, new programs and awareness programs, reintegrating children into educational institutions and developing the economic situation of the family."
