Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, said today, Wednesday, that Iran has nothing to do with the withdrawal of his political bloc from the political process, noting that Tehran has not exerted any political pressure on any Shiite party.
Al-Sadr published in a statement, "Iran this time did not exert any pressure on any Shiite party, and what is rumored that the reason for the withdrawal was an Iranian threat is a lie, and it is not true, but there is what some might call (Iran's arms) practicing political violations against The Iraqi judiciary is trying to turn it into its favour.
Al-Sadr stressed, "There is pressure also being exerted on non-Shiite political blocs and on independent deputies before the parliament session scheduled for tomorrow."
At the same time, he called on the political blocs to "take a brave stance in order to reform and save the country and not to go along with sectarian pressures, as it is like a bubble that will quickly disappear."
Earlier, al-Sadr announced his withdrawal from the political process, the resignation of his 73-member parliament, and the withdrawal of a whole current from the political process in Iraq.
