Baghdad / Obelisk: The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed, 07/25/2022, that Iraq informed Tehran about the desire of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding negotiations between the two countries hosted by the capital, Baghdad.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said in his weekly press conference: We conducted five rounds of negotiations with Saudi Arabia, and their results were fruitful.
He added: Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed to our Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian the desire of the Saudi Crown Prince to hold public negotiations, which is a good gesture from Saudi Arabia.
He continued: We will take a big step in the upcoming negotiations in Baghdad, and we thank the Iraqi role in this field.
It is noteworthy that after holding five rounds of security talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and at the end of which Tehran supported a reciprocal opening of embassies with Riyadh, the two sides recently agreed to move the dialogue to the political level.
Last year, Saudi Arabia and Iran began direct talks in Baghdad to try to contain the existing tensions between them in the region.
