A new law guarantees a special lawyer for those covered by social protection

The Parliamentary Legal Committee stated that the Legal Aid Law will ensure the appointment of a special lawyer for the segments covered by social protection and people with disabilities before the judicial and legal authorities after discussing and reading it in Parliament, noting that the law will provide assistance through a center in the Commission for Human Rights.
Committee member Raed Al-Maliki said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "We discussed the draft law in order to provide legal aid through a center that forms within the Commission for Human Rights for legal aid for a group of important segments of society," pointing out that "the segments covered by the law are those covered by social protection." persons with disabilities and victims of domestic violence.
Al-Maliki added, "Those registered in the social protection program will be able to resort to the Legal Aid Center for the purpose of requesting a free lawyer for their benefit, and the law will take care of all the legal details that concern these segments."
He explained that "the summary of all the paragraphs of the law is to harness legal aid for the beneficiaries of the law and to appoint a lawyer for them to appear before the judicial and concerned authorities," noting that "the law was read for the first time, and the second reading will proceed, and then the legislation."
He pointed out that "there are many other important laws that the committee is discussing, including the amendment of the owners' law, which will be presented during the sessions, in addition to other laws, including the Federal Court Law and the Oil and Gas Law, which are within the scope of extensive discussions."
