Today, Monday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the rate of preparing the Ramadan food basket, while indicating that the food basket will continue to be delivered to families even in the evening times.
"The Ramadan food basket was launched, and the proportion of supplies in it reached more than fifty percent," said the ministry's spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, in a press statement, noting that "the ministry began distributing the basket in remote and poor areas based on the assessment of the Ministry of Planning."
He added, "The processing and distribution committees in all governorates of Iraq continue to deliver the food basket to families even in the evening," pointing to "extending the times for preparing the Ramadan basket to citizens, with the aim of providing citizens with the full share of the Ramadan basket."
Hanoun confirmed, "The ministry has completed all the materials approved by the Council of Ministers and supported them within the Ramadan session."
Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Commerce to address any delay that may accompany the distribution of Ramadan baskets.
Haider Majeed, a spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, said: "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Commerce to address any delay that may accompany the process of distributing food baskets for the month of Ramadan and subsidized foodstuffs."
He added, "The directive was issued during the 13th regular cabinet session, which was held on March 28."
