Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian said on Wednesday that he discussed, during his meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in Tehran, all dimensions of bilateral relations and important regional and international files, noting that “important discussions are being held regarding the full implementation of the security agreement.” concluded between the two countries.
The Iranian Foreign Minister received his Iraqi counterpart in Tehran, in another visit to the latter, this time coming against the backdrop of escalating Iranian threats if the recent agreement on disarming the Iranian Kurdish opposition is not implemented.
Amir Abdullahian added that Iran is “serious about ensuring the country’s security,” expressing his happiness at the presence of “good information today” with Iraqi officials “regarding expelling terrorist groups from areas close to the Iranian border and transporting them deep into Iraqi territory in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and seeking to disarm them.” According to him,

The Iranian minister referred to Iraq’s implementation of the terms of the security agreement and said that “its next stages will also be implemented in the coming days,” saying that Iranian-Iraqi relations “are witnessing good progress in all their dimensions,” pointing to the start of implementation of the railway link project between the two countries from the Shalamcheh region to Basra.
For his part, the Iraqi Foreign Minister said that security cooperation between Iraq and Iran is based on the Iraqi constitution, adding that this constitution “does not allow any group of Iraqi lands to be exploited to attack other countries.”
He continued that members of groups opposed to Iran will be transferred to camps under the supervision of the United Nations, stressing that his country seeks to disarm Iranian opponents in Iraq.
He pointed to the existence of cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil and their emphasis on the necessity of implementing the joint security agreement, saying that the Iraqi government is committed to it to achieve its ultimate goal and disarm the Iranian Kurdish opposition.
Hussein praised Iranian-Iraqi relations and described them as good, calling for resolving some problems through dialogue and avoiding a language other than dialogue.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister pointed out that the implementation of the joint security agreement regarding Iranian armed groups will end within the next two days, according to the agreed-upon road map for implementing the agreement, calling on the Iranian media to visit Iraq to closely follow the implementation of the agreement.
During the visit, the Iraqi Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, and Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, according to what was reported by the Iranian ISNA agency.
