Diwaniyah Governor told {Al-Sabah}: We are coordinating with the ministries to move the wheel of projects

Diwaniyah Governor, Engineer Maytham Al-Shahd, revealed coordination with the ministries to solve the problem of lagging projects, while warning lagging companies in the governorate of strict legal measures against them.
The governor said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: There are currently preparations underway to establish integrated sewage networks in 13 districts, in addition to two large bridges and projects related to infrastructure in various sectors, as part of the efforts aimed at reviving the reconstruction process, which has witnessed a noticeable delay over the past years. .
He added that the local government gave priority within the regional development allocations for the year 2023 to the sectors of health, electricity, education, water, and roads, explaining that Diwaniyah is in urgent need of supplying its hospitals with specialized medical equipment and constructing new school buildings that eliminate double shifts, along with the implementation of water complexes in crowded areas, villages, and rural areas, in addition to the need To renew and rehabilitate electrical networks and complete roads in villages registered with the Ministry of Planning and other necessary projects.
Regarding the level of service campaigns implemented by the governorate’s departments and the extent to which they meet the needs of citizens, Al-Shahed pointed out the continued implementation of these campaigns in residential neighborhoods, especially those with a high population density served by the sewage network, represented by paving work, constructing sidewalks, and rehabilitating electricity and water networks, including the Military District, the Hadara District, the Euphrates District, and other neighborhoods. Residential areas suffer from a scarcity of basic services, which puts their residents in the face of heavy rains that fall in the winter.
He continued that the governorate also implemented the “Iraq is More Beautiful” campaign launched by the Prime Minister, which included the large and small areas of Sobi Diwaniyah and resulted in tangible service results.
Regarding the issue of poverty and the suffering of the poor, especially those who do not have an income, Al-Shahed pointed out that Saturday of every week is allocated to receive citizens for the purpose of listening to their complaints and taking immediate measures to resolve them. If the matter falls within the governorate’s powers, it will be completed, while complaints that fall outside the powers are referred to the authorities. Concerned, such as ministries and other bodies, pointing out that most of the problems that citizens present to the local government are poverty and lack of housing and employment.
Regarding the lagging service projects that affected the level of provision of basic services, the governor stated that the supervisory role was activated months ago and the necessary measures were taken to complete the projects that fall within the governorate’s custody and the level of coordination with the ministries was raised to complete work on their projects that are being implemented in Diwaniyah, as these efforts resulted in the completion Many ministerial projects have been suspended, including the first part of the Republic Bridge. At the same time, he warned companies and contractors of strict legal measures that will be taken if delay in implementing the projects is proven.
