    The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, opened today, Thursday, the electronic passport issuance system in the embassy building in the Turkish capital, Ankara, while indicating that it will contribute to shortening about 85% of paper and administrative procedures.

    The embassy stated in a statement received by Alsumaria News, “Al-Lajmawi inaugurated the system for issuing electronic passports in the embassy building in the Turkish capital, Ankara, and followed the steps and mechanisms of issuance in all their details. He also supervised the issuance of the first copy of an electronic passport in the Republic of Turkey.”



    After the opening ceremony, the ambassador appreciated “the efforts of the workers in the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence at the Ministry of Interior to launch the third generation of the new Iraqi electronic passport outside Iraq, which is characterized by high-level technical specifications and is approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” according to the statement. .

    He pointed out that "the new electronic passport will contribute to shortening about 85% of paper and administrative procedures, and will be issued to citizens within a very short period of time."

    Al-Lajmawi pointed out that “the embassy and general consulates in Istanbul and Gaziantep are continuing to take effective measures to simplify procedures for citizens residing in the Republic of Turkey and in various fields.”]
