    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed today, Monday (October 30, 2023), that the events taking place in Palestine and the Middle East in general will certainly affect Iraq, but it ruled out that the matter would reach “security chaos.”
Committee member Yasser Watout told Baghdad Today, “Certainly, Iraq is affected by any conditions the region is going through at the political and security levels, but this does not mean that these conditions will cause security chaos, including the Israel-Gaza war. ”
Wattut stated, "The security situation in Iraq is very good and is completely under control by the Iraqi forces. Countries issuing some security warnings to their citizens is a routine procedure that they work on after feeling any danger. This warning is issued in many countries, and we do not believe that the events in Gaza will... Causing any security chaos or destabilization of the internal Iraqi situation .”
Iraq and Syria are witnessing repeated strikes and attacks against sites where American forces are present. The number of attacks since the beginning of the Gaza events has reached more than 16 attacks, causing the injury of more than 20 American contractors and recruits, and the death of one contractor.
On the other hand, the American side threatens that it will take the necessary measures to respond and deter attacks on its positions in Iraq and Syria, while the US State Department, as well as a number of other European countries, warned their citizens against traveling to Iraq and called on them to leave as well.
This is happening at a time when the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, is waiting for the government and parliament to respond to his call to close the American embassy, indicating that he will take other measures if this is not implemented, while the political parties rule out the possibility of implementing this call or closing the American embassy.
