The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday that the Turkish side had informed it that the railway line was ready to connect it to the development road via Fish Khabour.
The Ministry of Transport participated in the meetings of the joint Iraqi-Turkish committee held in Baghdad for the period from 21 to 22 November, and the two sides agreed on the entry of trucks into Iraqi territory and vice versa, according to the controls and regulations between the two countries, as well as the agreement to activate transit transportation with regard to land transportation after completing the technical aspects, according to A statement issued by the Ministry.
The statement quoted the Director of the General Railway Company, Younis Khaled Jawad, as saying: The committee agreed to exchange experiences between the two countries in the field of inspection, loading and unloading methods in the ports, in addition to storage mechanisms in the ports, indicating that the Iraqi side expressed its cooperation in the field of transporting dangerous goods and fast materials. He added: We informed the Turkish side that the railway line has been developed to be ready to connect it to the development road via Fishkhabour. The two sides also agreed that the Land Transport Association will hold a meeting in the second half of next year in Turkey to discuss the issue of roads and land transport between the two countries.
