    Today, Sunday, Minister of Planning Muhammad Tamim stressed the necessity of charting new paths for development, while noting that the government has taken important steps in less than a year.
    Tamim said in a speech he delivered during the first conference to prepare the national development plan, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, “Participating in the work of the first conference to prepare the next five-year national development plan for the year 2024-2028, which is organized by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, and with the support of the American Agency.” For development, it represents an important opportunity to draw a new picture of the future of development in Iraq and develop a development strategy at the institutional level that may be consistent with the directives of the government program, confronting climate change, developing human capital, achieving digital transformation, and ensuring the path of future trends.”
    He added, "The grave circumstances and challenges that Iraq has faced over the past years have cast a shadow on reality," noting that "it is our duty to transform these challenges into opportunities for success in all development sectors."
    He continued, "The time has come to chart new development paths through which the goals and performance that seek to be achieved can be reached, and to adopt a plan centered on Iraq's vision for sustainable development 2030, as well as the government programme, strategy and plans for sectoral public policies, international treaties and agreements established by Iraq, in addition to economic diplomacy." And international and development companies,” pointing to “projects to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, start implementing new residential cities, move forward with the development road project, and focus on addressing lagging projects, most notably hospital, water, and sanitation projects, as well as including vital and strategic projects while ensuring the best conditions, and in First and foremost is the success in issuing a three-year budget to ensure the continued implementation of these projects.”
