    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Planning confirmed, on Wednesday, the implementation of a plan through the Social Fund for Development that aims to provide services to 536 villages that were not previously reached throughout Iraq.

The Ministry’s spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Ministry works on multiple tracks within the framework of its responsibility for developing policies to combat poverty, and the first track includes implementing the plans that actually exist and were developed a previous period.” We are still working in light of it, in addition to developing future plans in the short and medium term, as we are currently working within the framework of the Social Fund for Development, and there are 536 villages in 18 governorates, which are the poorest villages in all of Iraq, and we are working in this regard on basic service projects such as water, electricity, roads and schools projects.” .

Al-Hindawi added, “We have now implemented a large number of these projects in these villages, and people have begun to enjoy the results of these projects, such as delivering electricity to villages that have not seen electricity for decades, and we have connected roads to remote villages that were completely isolated from the world, as well as drinking water and schools to villages that lack all of that.” And also in another area, and within the poverty strategy, we implemented a group of housing complexes in a number of governorates, which were distributed free of charge in the governorates of Diwaniyah, Wasit, Muthanna, Kirkuk, Anbar, and Salah al-Din, and in other areas as well, which are still under construction.”

He continued, "We are now working to develop projects for the Fund to Support the Poorest Areas, which includes providing support to the poorest areas and enabling the people or residents of these areas to obtain basic services and basic infrastructure."
