Shafaq News/ Turkey aims to double the volume of its trade with Iraq through the “Development Road” project, according to Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Oraloglu.
Oglu said: Operating the development road would raise the trade volume from $20 billion to $30-40 billion, according to Anadolu Agency.
The day before yesterday, Monday, Turkey, Iraq, Qatar and the UAE signed in Baghdad a four-way memorandum of understanding for cooperation on the “Development Road” project, which includes railway lines and highways linking the port of Al-Faw and the Turkish border with a length of 1,200 kilometers, at a cost estimated at 17 billion dollars and is expected to generate about 4 billion dollars. Billions of dollars annually.
Erdogan had said during the joint press conference with Al-Sudani at the government palace in central Baghdad last Monday, "Iraq is a neighboring country and we have many commonalities with it. We have a political will to push Iraq-Turkey relations forward."
