    Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakeem, stressed the necessity to pass the Election Law and hold it on time.

    A statement issued by the SIIC said that in meeting with Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaif, on Friday Sep. 6, Hakeem stressed the necessity to support security agencies in countering terrorism; pointing out the importance of meetings between political forces to create positive environment that help in solving problems and serving the citizens through local governments.

    The two discussed developments of the political process in Iraq and events in Syria. Hakeem stressed the necessity of peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis, and warning from military. intervention.

    For his part, Nijaifi described his meeting with Hakeem as being fruitful and useful, pointing out that he discussed with Hakeem the domestic and regional situation, where both agreed to consolidate Iraq's domestic front to face challenges.

    He pointed out that Parliament intends to pass the Election Law to enable the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) prepare for the upcoming election. / End.

    Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, emphasized the necessity of endorsing the Elections Law to conduct the elections on time.

    A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited “Hakim met the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, at his office in Baghdad on last Friday.”

    “Hakim stressed the importance of focusing on serving the citizens through the Local Governments and the Federal Government,” the statement added.

    “Hakim and Nijaifi discussed the updates of the political process and the developments in Syria,” the statement continued, noting that “Hakim assured the importance of the meetings among the political sides to help in settling the disputes.”

    “For his part, Nijaifi considered the meeting as fruitful and confirmed that such meetings to help in reducing tensions,” the statement concluded.
