Ministry of Agriculture prepared a large plan to reclaim and invest agricultural land in the provinces of Salahaddin, Anbar and Nineveh after being recovered from gangs, "Daash" criminal, at a time when the salaries of the ministry's employees in Mosul. The ministry's administrative agent Mehdi Sahar said in a statement that the ministry had lost more than 6 million dunums of the 16 million dunums of land being cultivated in the country after the gangs of "Da'ash" terrorist groups in several provinces in Salahaddin, Anbar, Nineveh and parts of Diyala province, resulting in the loss of more than one million tons of wheat and barley crops. He pointed out that the ministry will work through this plan to create all the necessary conditions for the return of these lands and investment in agricultural activity again to support the sector and local agriculture to self-sufficiency. The percentage of land suitable for agriculture represents 27 percent of the total area of ​​the country, equivalent to 48 million acres, but the actual use does not exceed 16 million acres only, pointing out that a large proportion of agricultural land is not exploited and can be cultivated using the method The intensification of agricultural production, ie, increase the yield of one dunum after improving the methods of agricultural production, in addition to the adoption of complementary irrigation techniques and modern technology such as seeded fertilizer, improved seeds and integrated control. He called on the Ministry of the Interior and the General Customs Authority to put an end to the smuggling and import of vegetables and fruits from neighboring countries through outlets not belonging to the central government, which works to hit national production during the peak season, calling at the same time to the need to punish smugglers of agricultural commodities, Before the competent authorities in the ministry. In the same file, the Ministry of Agriculture began to pay the salaries of its employees in the province of Nineveh after completing the security check on the lists of names. A press statement to the Ministry, confirmed the resumption of the salaries of the ministry's employees in the province of Nineveh as of the date of starting the official completion of those who have completed their security audit according to the mechanism and did not respond to any negative indicators. The statement pointed out that the distribution of salaries was in accordance with the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 195 of 2017 and the approval of Agriculture Minister Falah Hassan Zidan al-Lahibi.
