The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the US missile defense system "Thad", published in South Korea, is directed against China and its neighbor China, not against North Korea as alleged by the United States.
"The issue is that this equipment is completely incapable of preventing North Korea from retaliating in the event of an attack," the agency quoted Sputnik as saying.
"The border on the Korean peninsula is going through a certain pattern, where Seoul is in the range of long-range artillery, and Thad systems will not intercept any missile missiles, so it is not necessarily necessary against North Korea," Borichenko said.
"We and our partners in China are well aware that Thad is directed against Russia and China."
