The president of the Turkish Water Policy Academy Dursun Yildiz, on Monday, that the oil swap with water between Iraq and Turkey is "realistic" in light of the lack of water supply and vulnerability to drought Iraq, pointing out that the main problem is no longer in the dams.

[rtl]"The main problem is not that the Turkish dams are hampering the flow of water in the region, but the fact that there are many new players who have now emerged in water policy in the Middle East, and one of them," Yildiz said in an interview with the Russian news agency Spoontek. These players are Kurdish regional administration of Iraq (Kurdistan). "[/rtl]
[rtl]"The possibility of Iraq providing oil to Turkey in exchange for water is a very realistic approach," Yildiz said, adding that it would "positively reflect on the water policy of the two countries and develop mutual benefit between Ankara and Baghdad."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "postponing this process will only exacerbate the problem, as we are going through a period in which can not resolve the water crisis, without mutual trust and respect for the interests of each party."
