{International: Al Furat News} Gold prices rose Friday after touching a six-month low in the previous session as the dollar slipped from recent highs as the euro rallied.
But the yellow metal seems to be heading towards the biggest monthly drop in 19 months.
Gold rose 0.3 percent to $ 1250.98 an ounce by 0649 GMT.
On Thursday, the metal touched $ 1245.32 an ounce, its lowest level since December 13, 2017.
The metal is heading for a third weekly decline, dropping 1.4 percent since the start of the week.
Spot gold fell 3.6 percent this month, heading for the biggest monthly drop since November 2016.
Gold futures in US futures rose 0.1 percent to $ 1252.50 an ounce.
The euro jumped more than 0.5 percent after EU leaders reached an agreement on immigration, a thorny issue that threatened union unity and the fate of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The rise in the euro would boost demand for gold to make the yellow metal cheaper for European investors.
The dollar index, against a basket of six major currencies, fell 0.6 percent to 94.856, after hitting a year high on Thursday. But the index is up 5.4 percent this quarter, boosted by rising US interest rates and a better US economy.
Among other precious metals, silver has increased about 1 percent in spot transactions to $ 16.05 an ounce. Heading for the biggest weekly drop since the week ending April 27, down 2 percent during the week.
Palladium rose 0.6 percent to $ 949.82 an ounce.
Platinum rose 0.3 percent to $ 850 an ounce after hitting its lowest level since January 2016 at $ 837.30 an ounce earlier in the session, and the metal is down 9 percent in the quarter, the worst quarter since December 2016. End
