LONDON - The three main indexes on Wall Street rose after reports that the United States and the European Union may agree to withdraw tariffs on imported cars, boosting optimism among investors over international trade relations.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 181.92 points, or 0.75 percent, at 24,356.74.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 23.39 points, or 0.86 percent, to close at 2,736.61.
The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 83.75 points, or 1.12 percent, at 7,586.43
