The media office of the former foreign minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Thursday denied what he called "false" news about the latter's request to exclude employees covered by the Accountability and Justice Act.
The current foreign minister, Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, said on Wednesday during a meeting with local media that Jaafari had requested an exemption for 39 ambassadors covered by the decisions of accountability and justice.
A statement issued by the office today, "The categorical denial of what was addressed by some media of false news include the existence of recommendations to exclude a number of staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs included in the procedures of the law of accountability and justice, or decisions of the Supreme Security Committee in the duration of his concession to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
"Jaafari has always adhered to all laws in force and not to tolerate anything that might constitute a violation of this important ministry, especially in the security aspects, or the imperative of loyalty to his country, and to defend him in international forums," the statement said.
The statement pointed out that "the Supreme Committee set up by the former Prime Minister, and competent to audit the files of all staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recommended the transfer of a group of staff outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; for specific reasons for each one of them, did not ask the ministry at the time to exclude any of the procedures.
The Information Office reiterates its call to the media to investigate the accuracy of the news.
