"The Speaker of the Council of Representatives attended, on Monday, with a number of deputies a ceremony held by the Saudi Embassy in Baghdad on the occasion of the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News.
The statement quoted al-Halbousi, referring to the "depth of brotherly ties that bind Iraq and the Kingdom, and the desire to continue and increase their frequency in a way that serves the common Arab and Islamic interests, and enhances the stability and security of the region," calling for "everyone seeks peace and calm; to defuse the crisis and remove the specter of war "We rely on the wisdom of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to help its brothers and neighbors from Islamic and Arab countries to achieve peace and stability.
He added that "the relationship between Iraq and the Kingdom has witnessed in the past few years an unprecedented development in various fields, which reflects the common will between the leaderships of the two countries and a conscious realization that our destiny and our future is common, just as our history and our cultural and civilizational heritage is also common."
