    The legal expert, Tariq Harb, confirmed today, Thursday, that the resignation of the President of the Republic, Barham Saleh, will take effect seven days after it was deposited in the parliament.
    Harb told Al-Akhbariya that "the resignation of the President of the Republic will not take effect until seven days after the date of its submission to Parliament."
    He added, "After this period elapses without being withdrawn, the Speaker of Parliament will take his place," noting that "the Speaker of Parliament gathers the two presidents because there is no Vice President of the Republic until a new President is elected within a month."
    Article (75) states:
    First: The President of the Republic may submit his written resignation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and it shall take effect seven days after its filing with the House of Representatives.
    Second: - The Vice-President of the Republic replaces the President in his absence.
    Third: - The Vice-President of the Republic replaces the President of the Republic when his position becomes vacant for any reason, and the House of Representatives must elect a new president, within a period not exceeding thirty days from the date of vacancy.
    Fourth: - In the event of the vacancy of the position of the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall replace the President of the Republic in the absence of a vice-president, provided that a new President is elected within a period not exceeding thirty days from the date of vacancy, in accordance with the provisions of this constitution.

    If the House of Representatives approves by voting to accept the resignation of the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, then the President considers an article as the dismissal is valid after seven days from the date of its submission if the President of the Republic does not initiate its withdrawal from Parliament.

    Barham Salih is the ninth president of Iraq, who was elected by the Iraqi parliament on October 2, 2018, to succeed his predecessor Fuad Masum, so that the Kurds will continue to hold the position of head of state since 2005.
    Barham Salih was born in Sulaimaniyah in 1960, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University in Britain, and a PhD from the University of Liverpool in Statistics and Engineering Applications in Computer.
    At the end of 1976 he joined the ranks of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by the late Iraqi President Jalal Talabani
    Saleh founded the American University in Sulaymaniyah, and served as the president of the university’s Board of Trustees, and has cultural activities in addition to his political activity, where he chairs the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Forum, a democratic meeting that includes national and cultural figures and dignitaries from the spectrum of Iraqi society, and Saleh is considered one of the most prominent political figures in the party He held prominent positions in it, as he was an aide to Jalal Talabani, and held several positions in the Iraqi government after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, as head of the Kurdistan Regional Government twice between 2001 and 2004.
    After the fall of Saddam Hussein, Saleh became a deputy prime minister in the interim Iraqi government in the second half of 2004, a minister of planning in the transitional government in 2005, and a deputy prime minister in the government of Nuri al-Maliki. He also took over the economic file as head of the economic committee, as he was nominated before. The Kurdish leadership is president of the Kurdistani List in the Kurdistan Legislative Elections that took place in July of 2009, and was named by the Parliament of Kurdistan as President of the new Kurdistan Regional Government in its session held on September 16, 2009
    Saleh ran for the presidency in 2014, alongside Fouad Masum, but he did not win the support of the Kurdish forces in the region
