Associated Press: Iran's arms attack the President of the Republic and warn against assigning an agent to the Americans

Iranian-backed groups criticized President Barham Saleh for not agreeing to their preferred candidate for prime minister, noting that his decision came down to the desire of the United States, warning him against the consequences of appointing anyone who might be "an agent of America."
In his refusal on Thursday to appoint a candidate for the building bloc, Asaad Al-Eidani, President Barham Saleh said that this came in response to a broad opposition from protesters against the government, who went on for nearly three months while they were protesting in the squares and streets of Baghdad and other southern provinces, demanding the removal of the entire political class.
The protesters, who accuse the government of corruption and mismanagement, flocked to the streets on Wednesday, demanding an independent candidate for prime minister.
But in a statement released on Friday, the Hezbollah Brigades described Saleh's position as "suspicious behavior."
"We know that he is implementing an American will planning to drag the country into chaos," their statement said.
Member of Parliament, Uday Awad, from the Sadqoun Bloc of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, described Saleh in an interview with a local channel as a coward, and went on to say, "Every Iraqi should spit his face to do this."
Iranian-backed groups said the president had violated the constitution by refusing to fulfill his duties in naming a candidate chosen by the largest parliamentary bloc.
However, since last year's elections, politicians have not agreed on determining who is the largest bloc, a dispute that caused their failure twice with the end of the constitutional deadline to choose a new prime minister.
There are two main blocs in Parliament, namely the Saeron bloc led by Muqtada al-Sadr leader Muqtada al-Sadr and the Al-Fateh bloc led by Hadi al-Amiri. But the number of members of the two blocs has continued to change since the elections, with an unknown number of parliamentarians leaving some blocs to join other blocs.
In a statement Friday, protesters described Iranian-backed groups as "corruption blocs" working to do anything to ensure sectarian groups take over senior positions in the country.
The protesters gathered Thursday in Tahrir Square to celebrate the president's decision, while he commented on a Facebook page of Sadr by expressing his thanks to Saleh's position, "rejecting candidates who are rejected by the people, it is a position that history, the Iraqi people and the authority will record."
In a reference to the deep divisions in the country, the spokesperson for the country's supreme authority did not deliver a political sermon during Friday prayers ceremonies, while the sermon was dedicated to commenting on religious issues.
Since the beginning of October, Iraq has been preoccupied with protests that have killed more than 450 people, most of whom have been killed by security forces, who used rubber bullets, live bullets and tear shells to disperse them. Where popular protests forced Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to resign last month.
Saleh said in a statement on Thursday that he would not agree to nominate Al-Aidani as a candidate for the next prime minister post, "to avoid further bloodshed and for the purpose of maintaining civil peace."
