Talal Al-Zobaie calls for the release of all detainees

Representative Talal Khudair Al-Zobaie, President of the Republic Barham Saleh, called for the use of his powers guaranteed by the constitution to issue a Republican decree to release innocent detainees whose hands were not stained with the blood of Iraqis and who were arrested on charges of resisting the occupier or because of the secret informant and malicious charges.
In a press statement, Al-Zobaie called on the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to issue a republican decree `` a special amnesty '' based on the provisions of item (first) of Article (73) of the Constitution and paragraph (first) of Article (154) of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, as amended. .
Al-Zobaie added that in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic and the great concerns about its spread in Iraqi prisons, and that there is no integrated health system in Iraqi prisons that enables them to deal with this catastrophe because of the many detainees, he calls on the President of the Republic to use his powers guaranteed by the Constitution for him to release all innocent detainees.
He explained that the political parties in Iraq should initiate the release of the detainees by adopting the general amnesty law in light of the poor conditions in Iraqi prisons and its lack of adequate health, medical and humanitarian conditions, which threatens the lives of the detainees.
Al-Zobaie emphasized that the situation in Iraqi prisons is dangerous and foreshadows a real catastrophe if the disease spreads, especially since there are thousands of detainees suffering from chronic and serious diseases because of the detention and the lack of appropriate health and medical conditions in the detention centers.
He indicated that the current situation of detainees should not be subject to political auctions or negotiation accounts, but only to the humanitarian side, and all parties should move immediately to take alternative legal measures stipulated in Iraqi law, such as releasing them, with known judicial measures such as placing under house arrest, or releasing with a guarantee or Putting the names of released persons on travel ban lists.
