    {Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Oil represented by the Oil Products Distribution Company revealed, today, Monday, that it had monitored more than 45 cases of various smuggling dens and trading in oil derivatives during the past year.

    The ministry stated in a statement that the Euphrates News received a copy of it that “the cadres of the inspection body of the company, through its various inspection tours in separate governorates, monitored dens used for smuggling oil derivatives, and those involved in this activity were arrested, while it indicated that the operations were carried out with the support of police and oil intelligence forces. And the Federal Police, "pointing out" to confiscate the seized quantities immediately. "
     The Chairman of the Distribution Company, Hussein Talib, said, according to the ministry's statement, "The company through the inspection body in 2020 carried out a qualitative activity at the level of the oil sector in general and has positive consequences even on the security file, since smuggling operations are suspicious activities and are considered illegal sources of funding and must be addressed. Such actions affect the economic level of the country. " 
    For his part, Director of the Inspection Authority of the Distribution Company, Alaa Adnan Mahmoud, explained that “the authority’s cadres are carrying out their duties to the fullest to follow up on smuggling cases,” stressing that “these cases varied according to their locations, some of which take place in distribution outlets and some in public places, such as garages and others.”
    Mahmoud pointed out that "the monitoring process is carried out by monitoring any possible defect that may occur in the movement of petroleum products and following up the mechanism of their arrival at the distribution sites in all governorates, in addition to relying on intelligence information received by the Energy Police."
    And he stated, "When the information is received, the commission proceeds to form joint committees with the relevant authorities to control these violations and refer the violators and those involved to the judiciary."
