    The Ministry of Transport confirmed, today, Saturday, that the Al-Faw port will accommodate three million containers in its first phase.  
    The Director of Information of the Ministry of Transport, Hussein Al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The maximum capacity of the Al-Faw port in the first phase will amount to approximately three million containers," noting that "the first phase of the project includes the completion of five projects with a period of three years and six months." .
    He explained that "the five projects undertaken by the Korean Daewoo Corporation include building five berths for unloading ships with a length of 1700 meters and constructing a container yard of 1750 meters long," indicating that "the third project is to carry out dredging and digging works by establishing the navigation channel inside the port basin with a length of 10 km and outside the basin The port is 13 km long to connect to the international shipping channel.
    He added that "the fourth project includes the construction of a highway linking the port and the city of Umm Qasr with a length of 63 km and the construction of a tunnel of two kilometers and four hundred meters from under the Khor Al-Zubair channel that will connect the side of the eastern road with the western one." Revitalizing the private sector and Iraq will emerge from the oil-dependent rentier system.
