Today, Tuesday, the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshlands Committee called for tightening inspection procedures at border crossings to prevent the entry of any prohibited materials.
The head of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in a statement received by the "National News Center": "Iraq is associated with many countries of the world with trade agreements that include, in particular, some fruits, vegetables and animal products."
He added, "The government must fully coordinate with these countries, whether regional or other, through joint committees to prevent the weak from exploiting these products and introducing prohibited materials with them."
Al-Shammari stressed, "The need to ensure that any product enters the country is healthy in particular, to keep it away from any danger and eliminate the ways of criminals and corrupt people in their attempts to flood the country with prohibited materials that target youth and pay the price for their children and society in general."
