Saleh: The need to bring those involved in ISIS crimes to justice and ensure that they do not go unpunished

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received, today, Thursday, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the head of the United Nations investigation team to promote accountability for crimes committed by ISIS (UNITAD) Christian Richer.
During the meeting, it was stressed the need to investigate the crimes of the terrorist organization ISIS that were committed in Iraq, and joint coordination between the competent Iraqi government agencies and the UN investigation team in this regard, and to provide all support to the team in carrying out its tasks.
President Barham Salih stressed the importance of bringing those involved in terrorist crimes to justice, punishing them, drying up their sources of funding, documenting crimes committed by ISIS and collecting evidence about them, especially those related to mass graves, and ensuring that those involved do not go unpunished, in a manner that preserves the rights of victims and prevents the recurrence of these crimes.
The President congratulated Mr. Christian Reicher on his assumption of his position as Chairman of the United Nations Investigation Team to Promote Accountability for the Crimes Committed by ISIS (UNITAD), wishing him success in his important humanitarian work.
