    On Friday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced its measures regarding industrial fraud, while recommending the formation of a Consumer Protection Council.

    The Ministry's media office stated, in a statement, received by "Nass" (December 3, 2021), that "there are a number of laws concerned with the issue of combating industrial and commercial fraud, directly or indirectly, including Public Health Law No. 89 of 1981 and Agricultural Quarantine Law No. 76 of 1981. 2012, Environmental Protection and Improvement Law No. 27 of 2009, Animal Health Law No. 32 of 2013, National Health, Safety and Environment Committee Law No. 6 of 1988, Quarantine Procedures System No. 6 of 1992, and Food System No. 29 of 1985.  
    He added that "there is also the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control Law No. 54 of 1979, the National System of Quality Control for the year 1988, the National System for Measurement and Calibration of 1988, Trade Law No. 30 of 1984, Trademarks and Data Law No. 21 of 1957 as amended and Consumer Protection Law No. 1 of 2010 in force. And the Iraqi Accreditation Authority Law No. 78 of 2017.  
    He added: "In addition to the aforementioned laws, the process of combating industrial fraud is in urgent need of forming a Consumer Protection Council, which works to coordinate the process of adapting the cases presented to it with the authorities implementing those laws, each according to his case and the powers of the responsible authorities, starting from receiving complaints, scrutinizing and investigating, to taking action. appropriate to it.”  
    He explained that "the ministry worked through many correspondences to expedite the formation of the Consumer Protection Council to take its real role in combating cases of industrial fraud in accordance with the above laws."
