Today, Friday, the Ministry of Planning announced plans for family planning, while ruling out the possibility of issuing a law that limits childbearing.
The ministry's spokesman, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, said, "Iraq is now not ready to issue a law that defines childbearing, because of the social values that govern the Iraqi street."
He added that "there are trends about family planning and not determining reproduction or offspring," noting that "family planning is intended to separate births and reduce childbearing, to ensure a decent life for children and to ensure the health of women."
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Planning published, earlier, new statistics and percentages for (11) files related to women and the family in Iraq, including family planning.
