The village of Rabat is located in Anbar Governorate, in the far west of the country, on the border strip with neighboring Syria. It follows the Rummana sub-district in the Al-Qaim district. It enjoys beautiful landscapes that make it a destination for tourists.
This village is located on the banks of the Euphrates River and was called the village of Link because it connects Iraq with Syria, in addition to the existence of another story about this name indicating that it was a stable for horses.
Regarding the history of the village, Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Faraji, one of its old residents, said: “The building of the village’s houses dates back to hundreds of years, and many of its people lived for generations after generations. The air that comes out of it is cold, which made it an outlet for the people of the village in the summer days.”
He added, "Most of the residents of the areas adjacent to the village go to it to spend beautiful times with its beautiful scenery. The village of Rabat is inhabited by many clans."
Clans of the village
Al-Faraji says that "the village includes a number of Anbari clans, namely the Al-Rawiyin, Al-Bouabid, Al-Karabilah, Al-Bofraj, Salman, Al-Bu Shaaban, Al-Agidat clans and other clans."
He continues, "The people hope that their village, which they have preserved for centuries, will be an important tourist facility due to its beautiful and picturesque scenery, and possesses all the landmarks that enable it to turn into an important tourist destination."
About the village
’s population, Mr. Abdullah Naji, a resident of the village, said: “The village has a population of more than 5,000 people. The people depend on agriculture and raising livestock and sheep as their main source of livelihood, in addition to government jobs. They are distinguished by kindness and generosity, and they have good relations with each other.” .
He added that "the village enjoys beautiful scenery, and most of the time, most of the school trips come to the linking village. Also, families on holidays and occasions spend beautiful times for picnics."
He asserts that "the village is completely secured, as the border forces command is deployed along the strip, in addition to the role of other security services in extending security and stability."
The people of the village are calling on the relevant authorities to approach investment companies to set up projects that will transform the village into an important tourist destination, as well as the recovery of its economic situation and the provision of job opportunities for its children.
