The Basra Oil Company has set, on Sunday, the date for the Khor Al-Amaya port to enter service and the expected export capacity.
The Deputy Director-General of the Basra Oil Company, Ahmed Fadel Dhaim, told the official news agency, "The Khor al-Amaya port is a landmark for stabilizing the maritime borders," noting that "abandoning it may cause a distortion of the lines."
He added, "There is an effort to carry out work to restore the carrier pipeline that was damaged two years ago, with the aim of increasing export capacity by 300,000 barrels per day," noting that "the final touches to complete the third offshore pipeline are taking place now, as it will be linked to the port in one of its branches and will be at the end of the year 2023." Ready to work with an export capacity increase of 600,000 barrels per day.
He continued, "The rehabilitation works of Khor Al-Amaya port will be completed by 2025," noting that "
Khor Al-Amaya port is an oil port dedicated to the export of crude oil along with the Basra oil port. It is located to the southeast of the Al-Faw Peninsula in the Arabian Gulf region. It is one of the 7 ports in Basra Governorate, 5 of which are commercial and 2 are oil. Ended 29/R77
