Shafaq News/ The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, called on all political forces, on Sunday, to reconsider the proposed initiatives and reach an agreement to end the current crisis.
This came during Al-Maliki's reception, in his office, the Russian ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, according to a statement issued by the media office of the head of the State of Law coalition, which was received by Shafak News Agency.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed the latest political and security developments in the regional and international arena, as well as the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and its repercussions on the international situation.
Al-Maliki stressed the need to "communicate with countries friendly to Iraq, especially Russia, and to strengthen bilateral relations to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples."
He stressed the importance of "the stability of the political environment in Iraq and its protection from external interference and projects aimed at creating a rift within its political and social components," calling on all political forces to "reconsider the initiatives put forward with the aim of reaching an agreement that ends the current political crisis."
Al-Maliki praised Russia's supportive stances for Iraq in the field of "the war against terrorism, as well as the areas of trade, economic and cultural cooperation."
For his part, the Russian ambassador, according to the statement, renewed his country's support for Iraq, and "desire to strengthen relations in all fields, and expand economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries."
