    Baghdad / Obelisk: Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi clarified, 14/07/2022, that the US House of Representatives' request to US President Joe Biden to announce his rejection of the law approved by the Iraqi parliament criminalizing normalization with Israel is an interference in Iraqi affairs.
    Al-Tamimi told Al-Masala that the law criminalizing normalization with Israel No. 1 of 2022 was published in the Iraqi Gazette in issue (4680) on June 20, 2022, indicating that it has become an obligation and has entered into force on the ground.
    He added: What has been suggested that US President Joe Biden places his priorities on the law criminalizing normalization is rejected in terms of international law and international conventions because Articles 1, 2, 3 of the United Nations Charter do not allow member states to interfere in each other’s affairs, and Iraq and America are members at the United Nations.
    He continued: This interference from the point of view of international law is categorically rejected in the light of these articles.
    And he went on to say that the strategic agreement between Iraq and America for the year 2008 made Iraq a sovereign country and it has the right to act on everything according to the constitution and the law, adding that the intervention violates this strategy between Iraq and America.
    He noted that the agreement was deposited at the United Nations under Article 2 of the United Nations Charter.
    He explained that the law criminalizing normalization was legislated by the Iraqi parliament in accordance with constitutional frameworks according to Article 5 of the constitution that the people are the source of powers, noting that the legislation was in accordance with the constitution and voting was also published in the Iraqi facts.
    And he concluded his speech by saying: The Iraqi faith is based on the issue of the liberation of Palestine and that the Zionist entity is an occupied country, adding that what happened since 1948 are well-known international conspiracies by the global colonial countries, and therefore the will of the peoples must be respected and America always calls for respect for peoples and the rights of the people Man and world opinion, noting that this intervention is completely rejected.
    A group of US lawmakers had placed the Iraq file among the files of US President Joe Biden before he began his tour in the Middle East, where they demanded him to clarify during his regional tour the United States' opposition to the recent law approved by the Iraqi parliament, criminalizing normalization with Israel.
    According to a report by the Jewish Insider website, the American website, which specializes in Jewish news, about the message of the American representatives saying, that this law threatens freedom of expression and enhances the climate of anti-Semitism, according to their claim.
    On May 26, 2022, the Iraqi parliament voted on a law criminalizing normalization with Israel in a festive atmosphere, which provoked different reactions internally, regionally and internationally between supporters and opponents of the law.
