    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Planning confirmed, on Tuesday, that it has demonstrated a policy of supporting and empowering the private sector, while indicating the existence of an active private sector that is among the priorities of the current government.
A ministry statement stated, "The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, chaired the 100th session of the Contractors Classification Committee, which was held at the ministry's headquarters."
Tamim stressed, "The ministry strongly adopts a policy of supporting and empowering the private sector, as it is the main development partner in the country, because the development of the private sector creates economic stability that supports and achieves security stability."
He added, "The Prime Minister's directives emphasized addressing the problems and challenges facing the work of the private sector, especially the contracting sector, which represents one of the most important development pillars, because it undertakes the implementation of projects at all levels, and that the government's dealings with the private sector should be transparent and positive." Giving him the development space that is commensurate with his capabilities and the economic potential available to him.
He continued, "Work is currently underway to automate all activities and works related to the classification of contractors, to reduce friction with employees, expedite the completion of procedures related to the issuance of classification identities, and address the problems of listing in the blacklist," noting that "the electronic system for classifying contractors, which was completed by the Ministry of Planning is a pioneering work that has contributed to addressing many problems, but it still needs further development, and this is what the Ministry is currently working on, in the context of completing the e-government requirements.”
The Minister of Planning stressed the "importance of the work of the Contractors Classification Committee, which includes representatives of the relevant authorities," calling on its members to "keep on regular meetings, because its work is related to the classification and listing process."
He continued, "Any delay in completing the procedures for contractors and contracting companies would negatively affect the implementation of projects, and the failure to meet the services provided to citizens."
He concluded, "The presence of an effective private sector is a first priority among the current government's priorities, and there will be many policies and practical procedures that support and develop this sector."
