    Economy News - Baghdad
On Thursday, the Ministry of Planning announced 17 residential complexes, similar to Basmayah, that will be implemented in the capital, Baghdad, and several provinces.
"Iraq needs 3 million housing units to cover the gap and solve the housing crisis," said the ministry's spokesman, Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, to the official news agency, noting that "there are more than 119 projects within the ministry's development plans, in addition to 17 new residential cities spread across most of the country." provinces (Baghdad, Karbala, Najaf, Anbar, Kirkuk, Wasit, and Basra).
Al-Hindawi added, "The new residential cities, one of which will be completed in the Bismayah complex, and the other 16 will be distributed over the six governorates and will be similar to Bismayah (vertical complexes), and will contribute greatly to solving the housing crisis, in addition to facilitating the provision of basic services to them."
He explained, "The complexes and cities in those provinces will represent a qualitative addition to the housing sector, and most of the ideas and plans presented in this regard include vertical housing complexes." In other governorates, the housing gap rate is lower.
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Planning presented a report and an integrated vision to the government on the housing sector, which included building low-cost housing complexes, but the issue requires the acquisition of land, in addition to providing basic services for such complexes, as well as enabling people to obtain a housing unit and granting them soft loans, in addition to To open up on the outskirts of cities and move away from city centers, as they suffer from overcrowding and transportation crises.
He continued, "The presented vision will make it easier for the government in all its relevant aspects to expedite the implementation of solutions," pointing to "the importance of opening horizons for investment in the field of housing, especially since one of the problems that caused a crisis is the lack of investment projects in the housing sector with the lack of government projects, in addition to to the conditions that the country went through that exacerbated the problem.

He pointed out that "housings in Iraq do not meet the standards for insulation," stressing that "the trend within climate changes is that modern homes meet basic insulation requirements and the issue of cooling and heating, which will reduce the consumption of electric energy."
