In Jordan, the work of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership concluded its second session, with political, security and political outcomes.
The parties participating in the conference agreed, according to the final statement, to hold a third edition at a place and time to be determined later.

    Statement text:
In light of the decision of the Baghdad Conference that convened on the twenty-eighth of August 2021, and at the invitation of King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and after coordination with President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the conference Baghdad II for Cooperation and Partnership in the Dead Sea Region on December 20, 2022.
The conference participants expressed their thanks to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for hosting the conference and for its good organization. Jordan and Iraq also appreciated the coordinating role of the French Republic in launching the Baghdad Conference and its participation in its two sessions.
Participants affirmed the continuation of work to build on the outcomes of the first session of the Baghdad Conference and to continue cooperation with Iraq in support of its security, stability, sovereignty, democratic process, constitutional process and efforts to devote dialogue as a way to resolve regional differences. They also affirmed their support for Iraq in facing all challenges, including the challenge of terrorism, over which Iraq achieved a historic victory with great sacrifices and with international and regional cooperation. The participants renewed their condemnation of extremism and terrorism in all its forms.
The participants renewed their support for Iraq in its efforts to consolidate the state of the constitution and the law, strengthen governance and build institutions capable of continuing progress and reconstruction, protecting its capabilities and meeting the aspirations of its people.
The participants stressed their support for Iraq's efforts to achieve comprehensive development and work to build economic integration and cooperation with it in many sectors, including energy, water, electrical interconnection, food and health security, transportation, infrastructure projects and climate protection.
In this context, the participants stressed the importance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and the economic projects agreed upon in its context, including electrical interconnection projects between them. They also stressed the importance of cooperation projects between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iraq, especially in the areas of electrical interconnection and transportation, and other regional projects that contribute to achieving economic integration and development, and building bridges with global markets, which will positively affect the entire region.
The participants stressed that the convening of this conference in its second session reflects keenness to support Iraq's central role in expanding regional economic cooperation, building bridges and promoting regional dialogue, which contributes to efforts to end tensions and build constructive regional relations that achieve mutual benefit. The participants stressed that achieving economic development and the success of regional cooperation projects require constructive regional relations based on the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs, respect for international law, adoption of dialogue as a way to resolve differences, and cooperation in establishing security and stability, combating terrorism and achieving prosperity.
The participants reviewed the repercussions of regional and international crises on Iraq and the region, and stressed that overcoming them requires comprehensive regional cooperation, serious and effective economic and political approaches and solutions that reflect common interests, support the development process in Iraq and contribute to the regional development process.
The participants emphasized the importance of holding the third session of the conference, which was launched by an Iraqi-French organization, and in which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Arab Republic of Egypt participate. The League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the United Nations and the European Union. They agreed to hold the third session of the next general conference and to determine the venue and date of its meeting in consultation between them.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan expressed its appreciation for the active participation of leaders and representatives of countries and regional and international organizations participating in the Baghdad Conference, and its clear keenness to enhance cooperation in light of the challenges that have made systematic joint action a more urgent necessity imposed by common interests, and a viable way to achieve the aspirations of peoples in building a better future that will prevail.
