On Sunday, Professor of Economics at the University of Basra, Nabil Al-Marsoumi, presented a set of economic lessons learned from the 25th Gulf Championship in Basra.
Al-Marsoumi said in a post on his Facebook page, "The first lesson is to study the possibility of expanding the Palm Trunk Stadium and increasing its capacity from 65 to 100,000 spectators in order to accommodate sports fans, especially with the rapid growth of the population in Iraq."
And he stressed that "the province of Basra allocates a suitable plot in the west of Basra, not far from the sports city, to establish a tourist city, provide the necessary services in it, link it with the center and the provinces with a network of good roads, encourage the Iraqi private sector and give it advantages in order to invest in it in the activities of hotels, restaurants, political and recreational resorts, and exhibitions." commercial".
As for the third lesson, it is related to "working to encourage heritage industries in Iraq and trying to present them to guests in private trade fairs, and then market them to the Gulf or Asian countries," calling for "concern to quickly complete the annual road in Basra to solve the current bottlenecks that the internal road network suffers from." in Basra."
He stressed the necessity of "encouraging Gulf and Arab capital to invest in Iraq and trying to enter into a partnership between Iraqi and Gulf investors, and that the establishment of any sports competition should be accompanied by invitations to some Gulf businessmen and informing them of the investment opportunities available in Iraq and giving them the necessary reassurances to maintain the security of their investments."
