Shafaq News / The Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, in the Iraqi parliament, revealed, on Saturday, the details of sharing the presidency of the permanent parliamentary committees with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, according to the electoral process and political consensus.
Last Wednesday, the Iraqi parliament voted on the members of its 25 parliamentary committees, after it canceled previous decisions regarding the distribution of its deputies to those committees.
The representative of the bloc, Sharif Suleiman, told Shafaq News agency, "The Democratic Party is entitled to chair three permanent parliamentary committees in the Iraqi Parliament, two of which are sovereign, according to electoral merit and political consensus."
Suleiman added, "The representation of the other committees will be five for the Kurdistan Party, in the capacity of the vice-chairman of the committee," noting that "the Democratic Party asked the presidency of the Council and the political blocs to grant it one of the committees, which are: finance, security and defense, or oil and gas, according to the electoral entitlement and parliamentary representation of the party."
