    Economy News - Baghdad
    Environment Minister Nizar Amidi confirmed, on Sunday, that the government is determined to enhance and support environmental work and reduce the impact of climate change.
    The Ministry of Environment said in a statement, "The Minister of Environment, Nizar Amedi, received the Dutch Ambassador, Johannes Lindert Sande, and discussed with him ways to enhance joint cooperation on environmental issues, climate change, and sustainable development between Iraq and the Netherlands."
    The Minister of Environment stated, "One of the priorities of the current Iraqi government is to promote and support environmental work and reduce the impact of climate changes such as drought, desertification and dust storms."
    He stressed, "There is a real desire and continuous endeavor by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani to implement the requirements of the Iraqi National Contributions Document and the Paris Climate Agreement."
    He pointed out that "the issue of promoting investment in the private sector between the ministry and the Dutch side in the environmental file in all its sectors is given special importance and priority."
    For his part, Sandy referred to "the interest of the Dutch government in supporting Iraq, especially in issues of agriculture, water management, renewable energies, and the promotion of joint environmental cooperation."
