Raisi wants to increase the volume of trade exchange with Iraq to more than 10 billion euros

Shafaq News/ The President of the Iranian Republic, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, expressed, on Saturday, his country's desire to increase the volume of trade exchange with Iran, which amounted to more than 10 billion euros during the past Iranian year, which began on April 21, 2022 and ended on the same date of the year. 2023.
This came in a joint press conference he held today with his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, on an official visit by the latter to Tehran.
The Iranian president said at the press conference, "We discussed issues in various fields, and we have a good level of political, commercial and cultural relations that represent the will of the two countries," adding that "the relations between the two countries and the two peoples are not ordinary, but rather special and distinguished, and they are completely strategic."
He added that the level of trade exchange between the two countries is large and amounts to more than 10 billion euros, but both countries want us to advance it to higher levels, stressing that the relations related to the development of infrastructure between the two sides, represented by energy and water, will continue in a way that the existing capabilities benefit from it and meet the necessary needs.
Raisi touched on the joint security coordination between Iran and Iraq, saying that the security memorandum of understanding that was signed between the two countries is important, considering that any security destabilization at any point in Iraq is considered destabilizing the security of Iran, and we attach great importance to security in Iraq and border security, and the security understanding Among us is not limited to improving security in Iran and Iraq only, but includes the entire region.
And he added, "To the same extent, we see that the negotiations taking place between the countries of the region lead to an improvement in security and stability, and we believe that the presence of foreign forces, especially the American ones, harms the security and stability of the region."
The Iranian president affirmed, "In our relations with the Republic of Iraq, we seek to achieve common interests," adding, "But America seeks to achieve its interests only and does not think about the interests of the two peoples or the interests of the peoples of the region."
He continued by saying that: the distinguished relations between Iraq and Iran led and lead to good cooperation between us at the regional and international levels, and our interests oblige us to use these good relations in all fields, and at the regional and global levels.
