The Ministry of Commerce said that the items of the food basket were examined and imported from solid origins, and that talk of skepticism about its expiration date lacks foundation.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Muhammad Hanoun, told Al-Sabah that the food basket items are subject to examination through national laboratories that have the "ISO" certificate granted by the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control.
And he continued that there are many conversations by some weak-minded people that the materials are expired, but they lack credibility, indicating that the ministry continues to prepare the food basket materials for citizens within the fourth share, which includes rice, cooking oil, sugar, legumes and tomato paste, while preparing to prepare the fifth food basket, and the months that follow. Because there is a large storage estimated at thousands of tons, enough to be distributed in the coming months.
Hanoun added that the distribution of food baskets at specific times created a state of balance in the prices of basic materials in the local markets.
He pointed out that oversight teams carried out inspection campaigns for a number of agents and met with citizens to express their views on the quantity and quality of the food basket.
He stated that despite the decline in flour prices and the implementation of the subsidized loaf project, the owners of Al Samoun bakeries and ovens sell at very low prices.
