Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce clarified the Council of Ministers' decision to withhold the ration card, while specifying the categories covered by the decision.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the decision of the Council of Ministers to withhold the ration card concerns those who receive a salary of two million dinars or more."
Hanoun added, "The ministry has prepared books and sent them to the relevant ministries to implement the Prime Minister's decision related to preparing the food basket for families whose salaries are less than two million dinars." His salary is less than two million dinars.
And the official spokesman added, "Any merchant registered in the Companies Registrar's Department will be included in the decision to deduct or withhold the ration card, and the same applies to doctors, engineers and pharmacists," stressing that "all companies are registered with the department and there is no unregistered company."
