The Iraqi interim Chargé d'Affairs to Poland, Miqdad Ayoub Al-Mandalawi, on Monday called on the head of the Polish Civil Aviation Authority to activate flights between Baghdad and Warsaw.
Al-Mandalawi said in a statement, "He met with the head of the Polish Civil Aviation Authority (Piotr Samson), in the Polish Civil Aviation Authority building in the capital, Warsaw, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the Iraqi and Polish civil aviation authorities, and overcoming obstacles that prevent the conduct of flights." Air between Baghdad and Warsaw, in addition to following up on the project to amend the air transport agreement between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Poland signed in 1961 at the request of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority.
Al-Mandalawi stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of Iraq's strategic location as a gateway to the Middle East, in addition to the government's tendencies to transform Iraq into a global economic center, citing the two projects of the Great Port of Faw and the Development Road, indicating, at the same time, that" these two integrated projects turn Iraq into a point important economic attraction at the global level.
He pointed out, "Iraq has become a tourist attraction for the countries of the region, especially after its remarkable success in hosting the Gulf Championship (25), and that the embassy hopes, by re-running the connecting flights between Baghdad and Warsaw, to activate tourism between the two countries, especially since there is an agreement for tourism cooperation between Iraq and Poland have signed since (1975).
