Independent MP Bassem Khashan confirmed, on Tuesday, that the parliament's procedures regarding the corruption of the Muthanna governor had been aborted by one of the political parties, pointing out that some parties benefiting from the governor's corruption seek to ensure his continuation in power.
Khashan told Al-Maalouma, that "a number of parties have been involved in supporting the governor of Al-Muthanna, despite his involvement in corruption in many files, but some parties still support him and stand by his failure to hold him accountable to ensure his continuation in office.”
He added, “The proven cases of corruption against the governor of Al-Muthanna are very clear, and action was scheduled to be taken by the House of Representatives against him, but this was objected by one of the parties, especially since there are some beneficiaries of the governor's corruption."
And he indicated that "there are measures that will be taken in order to reduce cases of corruption carried out by the governor, to be stopped, and to ensure that public money is not wasted and theft of the governor's funds is thwarted." ended 25 n
