The Iraqi government is betting on the strategic "Development Road" project, which is expected to be a parallel source of oil in financing the public treasury, and to contribute to a qualitative shift in the Iraqi economy in general and services in particular, at a time when the Ministry of Transport announced, yesterday, Saturday, Actually starting the first steps to complete the project.
A member of the Parliamentary Economic Committee, Kazem Al-Fayyad, expected that the expected economic boom would include all governorates of Iraq without exception, while he called for the formation of governmental committees to follow up on the work on the project.
Al-Fayyad told Al-Sabah: “The path of development involves foreign and local companies, and they will invest and contribute to the employment of manpower, and thus they will have interests within the country and will maintain its security and stability.” He added that “all regions and provinces of Iraq will benefit from this path directly or Indirect".
He continued, "The returns of investment projects will be better than the oil revenues if it is implemented in a correct manner, as this investment project has important economic returns." Energy, transportation, infrastructure and tourism," pointing out that "the road to development is not a street, but rather a development project, and Iraq will be the most important part of this important regional project."
For his part, the economic researcher, Dr. Haitham Al-Khazali features of "The Path of Development".
Al-Khazali told Al-Sabah: "The development road that is scheduled to extend from the port of Al-Faw to Europe through Turkish territory has many economic, security, urban and geopolitical advantages and benefits. It will provide a modern infrastructure system in Iraq, including ports, railways, airports and modern transportation methods." He added, "The development road will be a path for the settlement of industries on both sides of the road, and it will create trade exchange areas around the road."
